Mecca has once again created an in house brand but this time at an entry to mid level price point. Incredible marketing and snazzy branding led to crazy social media coverage, similar to that of the Glossier launch. Let’s face it though, isn’t Mecca Max the reinvented Kit Cosmetics makeup with better and more attractive products?
Exercising self control, I only purchased a few products which included the Pout Pop Lipstick in Bad Blood and Freedom Fighter. The lipstick range allows customers to choose shades in either sheer, matte or hi-def formulas.
Bad Blood is part of the sheer category, but don’t be fooled as this lipstick has a rich colour pay off. The creamy formula doesn’t leave your lips glistening like a gloss would, but rather creates a nice sheen. If you have a warmer complexion and are looking for a dark nude, this is the one! I think it might become my office lipstick. There’s no holding back when I love a product so it’s 10/10 for colour payoff and longevity.
Freedom Fighter is part of the hi-def category which on application reminds me of a non-drying matte lipstick. It’s the perfect pinky coral shade that surprisingly still works on my natural lip colour. But because of my darker lip tone, it did become quite obvious when the formula started to settle in my lips lines. If I prep my lips thoroughly the results were better, but who has time for that when you need to grab and go! 9/10 for colour payoff and 6/10 for longevity.
I’m keen to find if you’ve picked up anything from Mecca Max! Let me know in the comments below.
