Stripe Series Part One: The Skirt

I can almost guarantee you have at least one striped item in your wardrobe. There are so many ways to show off stripes through colour, patterns, how thick or thin the stripes are, and the list goes on. With so much to share, I decided to create a three part blog series of my favourite striped items and where you can find your own.

Part one features the striped skirt. I could do an entire series on this alone, but I don’t want to drown you in stripes! With my Monday to Friday office job, I make an effort to ask myself before purchasing, can I wear this for work? Can I wear it off duty? Of course not all items can fall in both categories, but it’s safe to say a skirt usually can. So what makes the cut in my wardrobe?

1. Pinstripe Mini Skirt

When this style first emerged in retailers, it was utter madness on social media. Naturally I had to join in on the hype. I’m happy to say they are still still on trend and not to mention, extremely versatile through seasons. You can check out the full blog post on my pinstripe mini skirt here.

2. Fitted Pencil Skirt – Horizontal Stripes

Think Kookai basic skirt with stripes and you have your wardrobe staple. It will take you from work to play with an endless array for styling options; chunky knit, tucked in blouse, crew neck tee or a linen cami. From as low as $15 AUD for a fitted skirt, a little goes a long way!

3. Linen Midi Skirt – Vertical Stripes

Classic with a twist always wins my heart which is why the linen skirt with vertical stripes is my favourite. This beauty featured below is the Kiera Skirt by Elka Collective. Although it looks like a summer vacation skirt, it can easily be taken from day to night.

Keep scrolling to see how I wore my favourite striped skirt last weekend.

Stay tuned for part two of the stripe series! Any guesses what’s next?

  • I was so late on the stripe bandwagon, and now I’m obsessed! I didn’t think about a stripe skirt, but you have me convinced! Also love your styling xx

    • Thanks Rachel 🙂 So I’ve decided there’s no such thing as too many stripes! Btw, I’m obsessed with your Commes des Garcons long sleeve top <3

There was a time where I could NOT stop buying striped shirts and dresses! 2015-2016 was all about stripes, so much so I had to ban myself from buying them. (You can even see my striped crop top in my profile pic here haha). Weirdly I never had a striped skirt though, some archaic nonsense about not making your bottom half look bigger stuck in my mind. Silly.
