Work Meets Play

Mixing corporate fashion with fun and casual pieces can bring so much life to your outfit. Using this technique can create a look for almost any occasion; drinks with the girls, date night, work socials and more!

I’ve been getting into the habit of exploring my wardrobe more rather doing an impulse shop. Don’t get me wrong, I still do impulse purchases here and there, but let’s not forget about those items pushed to the back of our closets. I’m always pleasantly surprised with new combinations I come up with and inevitably fall back in love with forgotten pieces. All you need is a bit of time and creativity (Pinterest, I’m looking at you).

Featured in today’s blog post is a work meets play look. I purchased a pair of tailored wide leg pants from CUE about three years ago and haven’t worn them much. Not because I don’t love them, but because I got lazy figuring out different tops to wear with them. The style of these pants elongates the legs and creates a very flattering shape. Material is everything though and I personally prefer spending the extra coin on good quality tailored pants. Trust me, it’s worth it in the long run!

You guys already know I like to bring balance to my outfits, so I went for a softer off the shoulder crop top with linen-like material. It’s super cute! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it was purchased from H&M a couple months ago. I’ll leave a link to other off the shoulder tops I would also style with the pants.

    • It was such a drag to start going through everything in my wardrobe but once you start, you get really into it!! I wouldn’t wear this to work either, but would take it with my for a quick outfit change if I was going out!

  • I love that top! I generally avoid off the shoulder tops because I have to wear a bra and hate strapless ones. They always look so cute tho!

I’m loving that off the shoulder number – so playful

  • Absolutely love the trousers, gorgeous outfit!

  • Mixing corporate/work clothes with casual clothes is something I find really difficult, but I think that’s because anything that looks too corporate really isn’t my personal style and I don’t feel like “me” wearing those kinds of clothes. But I do agree that some nicely tailored pants worn with a casual top can really make you look elegant and put together, and balancing work pants with an off-the-shoulder top is definitely a good way to make the outfit look casual and not like you’re heading to the office!

    • I’m the same! Head to toe corporate isn’t my thing. You always need to feel your best in what you’re wearing!
